Joan Franka, Lola’s Dice & Canvas Blanco
Joan Franka, Lola’s Dice & Canvas Blanco @ Café Hofman
Joan Franka (Rotterdam, April 2, 1990) is a Dutch singer-songwriter and known for her participation in The Voice of Holland and the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2014 she went to study at the Herman Brood Academy and performed under her alias Luba The Baroness.
They once started as a punk rock trio in Amsterdam-West, but in the meantime Lola’s Dice has been transformed into a band with a psychedelic, tropical funk sound. The special evolution of the band has resulted in music that is a pure sensation for the senses. A gritty mix of guitars, synths and musical roots that are rooted in the percussion sounds of Latin America, yet true to the punk ethos.
Canvas Blanco takes you along, wants to discover and makes narrative pop music with an edge. In search of lasting listening pleasure, the band prefers to color off the beaten track in order to allow the pioneering blood to flow freely. In 2015 the debut album “Call me Lucky Fat Or Skinny” was released. Like the soundtrack of a journey in which wanderlust and evil boyish imagination go hand in hand, this album nestled comfortably between the ears of many.
